JADE announces Allyson Walter as New Executive Director

With great pleasure, the JADE board introduces our new Executive Director, Allyson Walter. JADE (Jewell Area Development Enterprise) works to support, promote, and preserve historic downtown Jewell through a proven development model.   

 



As Executive Director, Allyson will serve as JADE’s principal on-site staff person responsible for facilitating Jewell’s Main Street program. Other key responsibilities include coordinating and implementing all local program initiatives, activities, and volunteers and representing the community regionally and nationally. The Executive Director will leverage available resources to advance the vitality of the Main Street District. In this role, Allyson will report to the JADE Board of Directors.   

  

As a self-proclaimed entrepreneur at heart, Allyson comes to JADE with an abundance of related experience, including:  

  • 20+ years of retail (managing Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works and owning two women’s clothing stores on Main Street in Ames)  

  • 10 years in tourism (including Director of the Ames Main Street District and Manager at the Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau)  

  • 5 years in Technology (with software start-ups and current owner of Small Biz Social)  

 

Allyson is a professional and a deeply rooted member of the local community. She grew up in Ames, attended ISU, and has lived in Jewell for 15 years. Together with her husband, Dave Sprague, she owns Trackside Welding, a business that is an integral part of the local community.
