R.E.G.E.N.T. Grants Program Guidelines - 2024

• JADE will grant up to $500 for exterior or interior building improvements with the property owner to qualifying Jewell…A Main Street Community building owner partners. Grants are awarded on a 50/50% match basis.

• JADE will grant up to $250 for building signage or business equipment or furniture with the property owner and/or business owner to qualifying Jewell…A Main Street Community partners. Grants are awarded on a 50/50% match basis. 

• JADE will grant up to $250 for exterior concrete walkways (eg sidewalks or steps) with the property owner to qualifying Jewell… A Main Street Community partner.  Grants are awarded on a 50/50% match basis and limited to no more than once every 7 years. 

• Applications submitted for pre-project approval must be completed within one year from approval date to receive funds.

• Any building owner and/or business owner requesting grant reimbursement must be a current partner of Jewell…A Main Street Community and a partner at the time the project is completed. 

• Grant applications must be submitted within three months of project payment expense to qualify for reimbursement. 

• A maximum of $5,000 may be awarded to a property owner per location and/or business owner. A period of five years must pass, beginning with the date the first grant award, for future grants to be considered for that building and/or business.

• Projects that have accompanying Main Street conceptual drawings provided by the Main Street Iowa consultant and have not been granted funds previously by JADE will receive priority.

• Purchases should be made locally if possible.  

• Ineligible grant funding includes project labor performed by the property owner or close relative or for business supplies.

• A maximum of $12,000 will be awarded per calendar year. Allocated funds are available until exhausted annually.

Grant Approval Process and Applicable Reimbursements

• The Business Improvement Committee reviews project eligibility then present grants to the Board for decision. 

• Approved applications will be granted a reimbursement of 50% of the total amount of the project or an amount not to exceed $500 for exterior or interior improved or $250 for building signage or business equipment or furniture, up to a maximum of $5,000 in a five year period. Project quotes or billing must accompany grant application.
